Personal Profile - James Profitt, Founder & CEO
James has over 20 years of experience developing software, writing code, and managing data of all types. He started his career in the UK as a SAS Administrator and Consultant before emigrating to Canada in 2010. Since then he has worked in multiple industries, managed and tuned a multitude of databases and systems, written Windows software, and developed novel analytical techniques. He has years of experience in programming languages such as SAS, R, Python, Delphi, and Javascript to name a few. He has managed and used many a database system such as DB2 LUW, Postgres, SQL Server, Teradata, and Oracle.

Base 3 Systems
Trained as a SAS Consultant, worked at Barclaycard UK and managed their SAS environment. Involved in a £10M project to deploy new SAS servers, including migration of many complex ETL processes and datasets.
2011-2014
TMW Systems
Started as Technical Support Analyst for TruckMate, eventually moving to Database Administrator, and Software Developer. Developed new tools and automated tasks including, patch merging, object dependency generator, database deployment and testing, automated data dictionary, database object version tracking, and more.
2014-2018
Groundswell Group
Primarily worked at BC Hydro as a consultant in which I managed their SAS environments, designed and deployed a new SAS Visual Analytics server, and worked on the SMI project as a software developer. Developed tools and analytics for theft detection at scale using AMI data.
2018-2026
BC Hydro
Joined BC Hydro as a Data Scientist. Continued working on specialized analytics using AMI data. Developed a new analytic to detect network topology errors, designed and developed a system for modelling digital twin data at scale, integrating various internal and external datasets to produce more accurate model data per account.
